Monroe County in Michigan
Monroe County Michigan. With over 70 cities, tows and townships, one would assume that this could be one of the higher populated counties within Michigan. However while the County’s total area is estimated to be around 680 square miles, it is home to approximately 150,000 citizens. Monroe County forms a portion of the Metro Detroit area, however due to its geographic location; some of the counties Southern areas may feel more closely in relation to Toledo, Ohio. Looking at Monroe County from an industrial stand point, we can see auto-parts manufacturing, metal fabrication, glass making, and packaging. Also, Monroe County can be seen as the only county in Michigan which is located on Lake Erie. When examining the Counties Judicial system, we find a District and Circuit Court, similarly to other Counties in the state. The District courts deal with things such as civil suits less than $25,000 and resolving civil, criminal, and traffic matters in a time effective manner while maintaining the integrity of the court, to state a few responsibilities. The District court handles all civil suits exceeding $25,000 and also is responsible for all serious misdemeanor/ felony cases, as well as all domestic hearings – including divorce and paternity hearings.
